Spelling
Using All About Spelling is producing some amazing outcomes. This multi-sensory approach allows the learner to see, touch, and hear phonograms, as well as manually arrange letters when spelling.
Instead of a list of spelling words to study, students learn spelling rules and "jail" words that break the rules.
Once they have spelled words on the magnetic board, they then spell them on paper. I'm seeing great results with words that have never been studied!

Cafe And Homeschooling
Do you use the Cafe method of reading with your kids? I was fascinated with the methodology, but was trying to figure out how to create a bulletin board in the house at which my husband wouldn't cringe, was a challenge. Then it hit me, use a lap book, so I created a lap book mimicking a bulletin board. I added the various strategies to the columns as we reviewed them.
The Sisters recommend that students
write their own strategy cards, but with the size of the lap book, I typed them out and put them in the small pockets
at the bottom of each column.
